Introducing the AVUTEC ecosystem

Scroll Prev Top Next More

The AVUTEC ecosystem contains:

1.CortexFramework:  Computer Vision integration platform

2.Gatekeeper, the embedded ANPR camera

3.A graphical user interface to monitor and configure the CortexFramework.

AVUTEC's system is modular and designed to be part of third party ecosystems.

2. Gatekeeper

The Gatekeeper is an embedded visual sensor system, that captures license plate images, processes the images on board and outputs the recognition results to third party systems.

Optionally the Gatekeeper can be equipped with an I/O extender which enables it to operate gates and barriers itself.

Due to it's modularity and ready made integrations (connector Axons) with third party systems the Gatekeeper can be configured out of the box to meet most demands.

Each Gatekeeper is given a GUID, a unique serial number, to identify the device. The GUID can be found on the box and in the junctionbox at the back of each Gatekeeper. The Guid is used in CortexClient, the client used for management, monitoring and configuration and during support.

In CortexClient or other AVUTEC documentation a Gatekeeper is referred to as hypervisor.

3. CortexFramework

CortexFramework is AVUTECs computer vision integration platform. With CortexFramework a Cortex (application) can be built with pre-built Axons(modules).

1.Cortex
A computer vision application consisting of a collection of Axons in a certain order to determine the flow of images and their operations.

2.Axon
A building block with a certain functionality to build a Cortex with.

4. Axons and I/O pins

The Gatekeeper comes with a default Cortex (see above 3. CortexFramework), containing the essential Axons needed to recognize a license plate and to output the results.
The default Cortex can be extended with additional Axons for extra functionality.

1.Input Axons
Axons that provide the image source for the Cortex

2.Image processing Axons
Axons that are responsible to process the images e.g. Recognition Axons, Contextual data Axons (metadata added to recognition results like car information, wanted vehicle identification and direction of cars)

3.Connector or integration Axons
A wide range of connector (integration) Axons e.g. FTPAxon, DatabaseAxon, WebserviceAxon and Axons to connect with any Video Management Systems, access control, hospitality and PMS systems,

4. I/O pins
I/O pins are accessible in the junctionbox in the back of the Gatekeeper. The I/O pins can directly operate all electronically operated devices, like barriers, gates, matrix boards and lights.

5.Custom made Axons
Custom made Axons can be developed either by AVUTECs computer engineers or by integrators. For this AVUTEC has a SDK available.

5. CortexClient

CortexClient, AVUTECs graphical interface to remotely manage, monitor and configure CortexFramework, comes with every AVUTEC product. It lists all AVUTEC devices in one environment making it easy to navigate between different devices on several locations. Per device it offers an extensive set to configure and monitor its settings for optimized performance.

The full manual of CortexClient can be found here

6. CortexConnect

To simplify accessing CortexFramework devices AVUTEC developed CortexConnect. CortexConnect is a remote access tool to connect to devices running CortexFramework without the need for port forwarding, opening firewalls or setting up a VPN connection. CortexConnect facilitates high quality support from behind a desk.
