1. Camera OS

CortexFramework is the AVUTEC camera OS. It is a modular software system developed to run on the edge. It takes care off all image processing, inter system connectivity/communication and remote management.

CortexFramework has a modular set up. It consists of Axons, modules with a certain functionality to built a complete smart application called a Cortex.

1.Cortex
A computer vision application consisting of a collection of Axons in a certain order to determine the flow of images and their operations.

2.Axon
A building block with a certain functionality to build a Cortex with.

2. Axons or modules

An application or Cortex is built up with Axons. AVUTEC distinguishes 4 types of Axons in order to create a complete pipeline.

1.Input Axons
Axons that provide the image source for the Cortex

2.Processing Axons
Axons that are responsible to process the images e.g. Recognition Axons, Contextual data Axons (metadata added to recognition results like car information, wanted vehicle identification and direction of cars)

3.Output Axons
A wide range of connector (integration) Axons e.g. FTPAxon, DatabaseAxon, WebserviceAxon and Axons to connect with any Video Management Systems, access control, hospitality and PMS systems,

4.Custom made Axons
Custom made Axons can be developed either by AVUTECs computer engineers or by integrators. For this AVUTEC has a SDK available.

For a list of the Axons follow this link

3. Built-in interfaces and I/O connectivity

Where the FTP, database, webservice and connector Axons provide for software connectivity, built-in interfaces and I/O connectivity take care of inter system communication and connectivity.

1.I/O cable
The I/O cable facilitates communication with access control systems via RS-485 and OSDP. The potential free contacts directly operate any gate, indicator or electronic peripheral. The Module-X can be powered by providing 12 - 48 Volt DC on the I/O cable.

2.Network cable
A network cable provides all AVUTEC devices with Ethernet and power (PoE+  IEEE 802.3at)
