Use case 1: Parking lot with shared lane for entrance and exit

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Scenario: Car park with a shared lane for entrance and exit with a Gatekeeper.

Client demands:

1.ANPR based access control.

2.Usage of the existing access control system.

3.One lane shared for entrance and exit.

4.Opening the gate for incoming license plates.

5. A sensor opens the barrier when a car is leaving the car park.

6.Opening the gate for authorized license plates only.

7.Embedded recording video streams of both internal cameras.

The solution

Thanks to the many pre-built axons ANPR integration in security ecosystems is easy.

Only the VelocityAxon (vehicle direction detection)is added to the default Cortex to equip the Gatekeeper for this task.

How does it work

•The Gatekeepers is positioned to recognize incoming license plates.

•The barrier only opens for incoming license plates, thanks to the VelocityAxon, that determines vehicle direction.

•A sensor opens the barrier for exiting cars.

•After recognition of an incoming vehicle the Gatekeeper will send a Wiegand signal to the access control unit.

•The access controller compares the Wiegand signal with a database for authorized visitors and will open the barrier on a match.

•Meanwhile both video streams of the Gatekeeper will be recorded and stored on the camera itself.
There is no need for an external VMS. Video storage is for a max time period of 2 weeks depending on resolution.

•Because of vehicle direction detection, the barrier will not open on recognition for outgoing cars, even though license plates are read driving out due to the shared lane.

Description

The flow chart

IDSPeakAxon

Infrared sensitive sensor providing a video stream for the ANPRAxon for recognition.

Usecase1

ULLAxon

Full color HD camera for overview or extra stream for ANPRAxont during the day.

ImgCropAxon

Cropping a special interest part of an image. This can lower bandwidth, but also decreases fps.

MediaServerAxon

MediaServerAxon records both internal videostreams and stores them on the embedded SD card.

ANPRAxon

The ANPR engine.

ANPRThresholdAxon

ANPRThresholdAxon defines the conditions to be met before passing a valid recognized license plate to the next Axon.

VelocityAxon

Determine direction of a vehicle.

GatekeeperAxon

Outputting the Wiegand signal. In this case because of the VelocityAxon, the GatekeeperAxon will only send a signal for entering cars.
