Recording parking events with a shared lane for entrance and exit with one CortexDevice

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Scenario: Parking lot or car park with a shared lane for entrance and exit with one CortexDevice and a VMS.

Client demands:

1.ANPR based access control.

2.One lane shared for entrance and exit

3.Opening gate for incoming license plates.

4.Opening the same gate for exiting vehicles no recognition necessary.

5.Recording videostream.

6.Bookmarks for recognitions with extended car data.

7.Opening gate for authorized license plates only.

The solution

Here VMS integration is the key word. Thanks to the many pre-built axons ANPR integration in security ecosystems is easy.

A MediaServerAxon, VelocityAxon, CarDataAxon and VideoTaggerAxon are added to the default cortex to equip the CortexDevice for this task.

How does it work

The CortexDevice is positioned to recognize both incoming and exiting license plates.
The barrier opens using ANPR for incoming license plates.

The barrier opens by a sensor for exiting cars.

After recognition of an incoming vehicle the CortexDevice will send a Wiegand signal to the access control unit. The access controller compares the Wiegand signal with a database for authorized visitors and will open the barrier.

Bookmarks will be made for recognitions for both entering and exiting license plates. Car data is added to the bookmarks.

Meanwhile both video stream of the CortexDevice will be recorded by a Video Management System.

The barrier will not open on recognition for outgoing cars.

This looks like a simple car park, but appearances are deceiving. This is quite a complex situation.
CortexFramework offers all the functionality to integrate and facilitate the desired behavior.

THE CORTEX

Axon

Description

The flow chart

IDSAxon

Infrared sensitive sensor providing a video stream for the ANPRAxons for recognition.

CC_usecase_VMS_interfacing

USBCameraAxon

(or VideoSourceAxon in X-Series models)

Full color HD camera for overview or extra stream for ANPRAxons during the day.

ImgCropAxon

Cropping a special interest part of an image. This can lower bandwidth, but also decreases fps.

MediaServerAxon

MediaServerAxon turns the incoming video stream into a Onvif camera, broadcasting itself to be picked up by all VMS systems.

It generates a RTSP stream, that can be viewed or recorded.

LoadBalanceAxon

Spreads the images evenly over CPU cores for fast processing.

ANPRAxon

The ANPR engine. In this Cortex 4 ANPRAxons for fast processing. One Axon per CPU core.

ANPRThresholdAxon

ANPRThresholdAxon defines the conditions to be met before passing a valid recognized license plate to the next Axon.

CarDataAxon

Data about the recognized vehicle coming from national kept databases like color, brand and make. Or whether a car is stolen.

VideoTaggerAxon

Bookmarking special events in a VMS.

VelocityAxon

Determine direction of a vehicle.

GatekeeperAxon

Outputting the Wiegand signal. In this case because of the VelocityAxon, the GatekeeperAxon will only send a signal for entering cars.
